Medical Cost Advocate and Goodroot are Partnering to offer Industry leading Healthcare Advocacy services for group employees. This is a ground floor opportunity to join a new, rapidly growing, professional services team that helps clients navigate the healthcare system and reduce cost.

Assist employers and employees, in a consultative manner, by evaluating, managing and resolving health insurance and billing challenges and advise them on reducing the cost and complexity of healthcare leveraging proprietary and evolving tools.   

Position Description:

Healthcare Advocates are advisors who combine experience in health insurance, medical billing and business with a passion for strong customer service. The Advocate’s goal is to simplify healthcare, saving time and money for our clients. Successful candidates will leverage their past experience in healthcare with our proprietary and growing workflow tools to efficiently resolve billing and insurance issues. You will work with employees, providers and insurance carriers in a constructive and knowledgeable manner to help our clients navigate healthcare and save money. This is an ideal position for experienced advocates, insurance broker account managers, health insurance claims representatives or medical practice billing managers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Building ongoing advisory relationships with clients
  • Understanding insurance benefits and advising clients on saving money
  • Providing guidance for clients to navigate healthcare and make better decisions
  • Reviewing and analyzing bills and EOBs for issues and assisting in resolution
  • Researching and resolving coverage and billing issues with insurance carriers and providers
  • Negotiating bills with healthcare providers using our proprietary negotiation methodology
  • Using cost reduction tools to help clients find lower cost healthcare providers
  • Assisting with appeals with insurance carriers for coverage
  • Researching in-network providers, comparing pricing and recommending options
  • Managing multiple cases concurrently using our case management system
  • Providing proactive client service, including updating clients on progress and outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Ideal position for: healthcare / insurance advocate, account manager / client service manager for insurance broker, claims specialist for insurance provider
  • Experience with employee benefits, health insurance and medical billing
  • Passion for strong client service; comfortable working with high net-worth & professional clients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain and advise
  • Professional, organized, analytical, creative problem solver 
  • Able to influence and negotiate with providers and insurers to achieve desired outcomes
  • Capable with online applications, strong Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel skills
  • Education/experience: College degree and 7+ years directly related work experience
  • Preferred – Health insurance producer license and/or Medicare certification, with experience
  • Preferred – Medical billing/coding certification
  • Preferred – Commutable to Wyckoff, New Jersey corporate office (30 min. from Midtown NYC)

Compensation:

Competitive based on skill level and experience.
